Sights

The most famous sights around Dessau are the palaces and gardens, and especially the buildings which are several centurys old: the palace of Mosigkau, the Luisium palace, and the Georgium
palace; the garden of Wörlitz; and the world famous Bauhaus. Also very interesting is the countryside with the Elbe River where many beavers and rare birds live. A nice day trip nearby would be to Wittenberg, known as the "Luther-Stadt" (Martin Luther City).

Palace of Mosigkau

The palace of Mosigkau was built from 1752 -1757 for the princess Anna-Wilhelmine. In the palace you will find a gallery from the Netherlands with a very nice collection of paintings by old masters like Van Dyck and Rubens. The most famous painting in this gallery is the "Little Prince", which is where our hotel got its name. The palace is just five minutes away from the hotel.

Bauhaus Dessau

The Bauhaus Dessau was built in 1925/26 by plans of Walther Gropius. It was a very important building invention for the modern architecture and art. The Bauhaus was the first building of this kind and the base for the modern architecture style. In Dessau you will find many buildings constructed in the style of the Bauhaus. An example would be the Masters Houses where the architects lived at that time.

Wörlitzer Park
The park of Wörlitz was built by Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau in the second half of the 18th century. It is the greatest garden in Europe. You can visit the park and enjoy a walk through the gardens or a boat ride over the lake of Wörlitz and through the small channels.
